Spending slump in January 10 transfer window

English premier league clubs have spent only £30 million in the January 10 transfer window.

This was a drop of more than 80% on the previous year's record £170 million, according to analysis by football finance experts.

This significant decrease in spending has been attributed to a number of factors, including the absence of new club owners, as well as the tightening of club finances and the availability of credit.

Most clubs seemed reluctant to commit themselves to spend, with around 70% of player transactions being loan arrangements.
