Beswicks support Sentinel Stoke City reporter, Martin Spinks’ Mount Kilimanjaro climb in May.

Beswicks are supporting The Sentinel's Stoke City reporter, Martin Spinks in his quest to climb Kilimanjaro accompanied by Stoke City Manager, Tony Pulis.  The pair will be raising funds in aid of the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice Trust, which is based in North Staffordshire.

“Having been kindly volunteered for the trip by Tony Pulis (without my knowledge) I've got to say I'm quite looking forward to it now that I've got my head round it.”  Martin comments.

He adds, “There is no specific training as such, other than having to put on at least a stone in weight because that's how much we'll apparently lose on the climb.
The thought of the altitude sickness and the sub-zero temperatures is starting to keep me awake at night, but at least I'll be in good company if we do perish up there.”

“Which is why we want to collect as much as we can now, not after the climb, for the Donna Louise Trust. So please, please give as much as you can because we all know what a wonderful job they do at the hospice and how much financial help they constantly need.
And a big thanks to Beswicks for all you've done so far."

Gary Mellor, of the Beswicks Sports Department comments,  “We’re pleased to support Martin in his brave attempt to scale Africa’s highest peak.  Its going to be a great adventure and his efforts are supporting a worthy local cause so we’re behind him every step of the way.”
